How do anti-limescale magnets work?
Limescale problems can affect household appliances and cold and hot water installations. Limescale deposits on the internal surfaces of pipes, hot water tanks and boilers. Limescale reduces the flow rate and efficiency of your home's hot water equipment.
Limescale is a mineral that is easily soluble in water and consists mainly of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and magnesium carbonate (MgCO3).
Limestone crystallises naturally in two main states:
- Calcite: stable, highly encrusting crystals
- Aragonite: less stable crystals that do not encrust.
The magnetic field acts on the polarity of the calcium carbonate molecules, transforming them into non-encrusting particles. This process prevents limescale from sticking to pipes and accumulating.
The Auris magnetic scale remover is a magnetic circuit fitted with permanent neodymium magnets that generate a powerful field through the pipe. For maximum effect, the water must flow as quickly as possible in an alternating north/south magnetic field. The device should therefore be placed on the narrowest section of the water supply.
The magnetic anti-scaling device does not soften the water, which retains all the minerals necessary for biological health and, in particular, bone strengthening.
