Shoulder pain

Shoulder pain is an extremely frequent reason for consultation. It is the most mobile of our joints, as well as one of the most stressed, since it is where 3 bones meet: the scapula, the humerus and the clavicle. Doing your hair, drinking your coffee, driving your car: many of the everyday gestures we make are therefore made via the shoulder, and repeating them can make it more fragile. What's more, it's a highly complex joint, made up of several joints, muscles and tendons. Shoulder pain can therefore have many causes

Shoulder pain can also be linked to pathologies such as bursitis or calcifications, traumatic causes (tears, tendon ruptures, sprains, dislocations, fractures of the humerus, scapula or clavicle) or inflammatory disorders such as arthrosis or arthritis.

Sometimes the pain comes from a non-musculoskeletal cause, unrelated to the shoulder: an infectious disease, a neurological illness, or a heart or lung problem can all result in a painful shoulder.

The different symptoms

• Pain of varying intensity in the shoulder, which may or may not be present at rest and which intensifies during intense activity
• Pain radiating down the arm, sometimes as far as the hand
• Stiffness in the shoulder
• Swelling, oedema or swelling
• Decrease or loss of mobility in the shoulder
• Reduced functional capacity of the shoulder, arm and/or hand
• A cracking sensation in the shoulder

Given its impact on everyday activities, shoulder pain can quickly become disabling.

Treatment

Most of the time, shoulder pain is treated with analgesics (such as paracetamol) and/or anti-inflammatories, combined with physiotherapy sessions. In the event of severe pain, cortisone injections may be prescribed. Surgery is recommended in cases of acute rupture of the rotator cuff as a result of trauma.

Therapeutic magnets are a good alternative for reducing and relieving pain without drugs. The magnetic shoulder support, the Omoflex or the 25 mm Titanium magnets effectively reduce muscle and joint pain.

Omalgis clinical study
